Star is a true survivor! She spent eight years in various puppy mills, bred for profit and debarked (devocalized-her voice box was prurposely broken so she can not bark). Despite all of this, she is still gentle and sweet and enjoying the love shown to her in her foster home. Star was the “2015 Sproutfest Save of the Year” and honoree, 102.9 WMGK’s John DeBella and his wife Lisa named her because she is a shining star!
Star needs a calm home with a very secure fenced yard where she can continue to make strides and learn to trust in a secure place. Star is well behaved and would do best in a home with another gentle dog who loves to share dog beds for naps!
Star is sweet and gentle but very shy. It takes a while for her to warm up to new people, but once she learns to trust she is fantastic!
Star was debarked at a puppy mill and is unable to vocalize properly. She is otherwise healthy!
Star is good with dogs!
She hasn’t been around any cats while with Finding Shelter, so we’re not yet sure how she’d react.
Star is best suited in a home with no children.
Star is easily spooked so a secure, physical fence is required.!
Star is very shy and apprehensive, but she is very well behaved so little to no training is needed. She is both crate trained and housebroken.*
*All dogs will go through a transition period after finding a new home and may need a “refresher course” in house-breaking.
