Banjo was rescued by the PSPCA in 2023 with 72 other chihuahuas in a hoarding situation in a home in the Kensington section of Philadelphia. Banjo was one of the sweet, outgoing dogs in the group and was quickly placed on the adoption floor with a group of other dogs rescued from the home. Finding Shelter stepped up to help Kazoo and placed him in a foster home but he needed some help from one of his former housemates so we went back to pick up sweet and social Fiddle and that is when we met Banjo.

Banjo was in the medical center because after he was placed on the adoption floor staff was called over by a visitor as Banjo was having a gran mal seizure. He immediately received medical attention and was stable and back to his usual, sweet self but in need of a safe place to land. So, with Fiddle and Banjo in hand, their foster headed home to reunite them with Kazoo who was beyond overjoyed to see them.

Banjo is loving, playful, happy, silly, and gentle. He loves everyone he meets and has so much love to give. But some investigating needed to be done into his seizures and what seemed to be visual impairment. We all breathed a sigh of relief that his MRI was clear and it is likely that his seizure at the shelter was simply stress induced which was understandable after going through so much upheaval in his life. Banjo’s ophthalmologist diagnosed him with retinal degeneration and he could lose his vision but still have a long and good quality of life.

Banjo is a wonderful dog and it would be best if he and Kazoo could be adopted together. They love to cuddle and Banjo loves to get close while he snoozes on the couch next to a person and dogs that he loves. He is an amazing guy! *

*All dogs will go through a transition period after finding a new home and may need a “refresher course” in house-breaking.
