A secure, physical fence is required. Adopters must live within 30 miles of King of Prussia, PA.

Radar is a very high energy puppy who was released by a puppy mill breeder when it was discovered that he was visually impaired. After initial consultations with the neurologist and ophthalmologist where no obvious diagnosis could be made as his eyes looked fine and his neurological exam was mostly normal, it was decided that the best course of action would be to do an MRI. The neurologist expected that the problem was likely an inherited abnormality in the visual system but any other issues needed to be ruled out to have the most information for ourselves and any potential adopters. Doing full diagnostics sets adopters and animals up for the best success!

Much to our delight, no abnormalities were found during the MRI. Radar has been diagnosed with congenital pendular resting nystagmus. It is a developmental abnormality with no treatment options but it should not worsen over time. He will adapt to his level of vision and has a good quality of life. In addition to the MRI, a spinal tap was done to rule out any inflammation or infection and it came back clear!

He would do best in a home with another playful dog companion and requires a home with a very secure physical fence attached to the home. Radar does need basic training skills and help with crate training and house training.*

*All dogs will go through a transition period after finding a new home and may need a “refresher course” in house-breaking.
