Finding Shelter Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3), non-profit, no-kill, volunteer supported animal rescue organization dedicated to the saving, rehabilitation, training and permanent placement of dogs and cats in need.
Operating since January 1, 2010, we are inspired by Sprout, our tiny, blind Chihuahua who, even after his passing in 2012, reminds us every day that saving the lives of homeless animals is no small “feet”!
Finding Shelter treats each adoption individually, with the understanding that placing a dog into a new home is not like buying a new piece of furniture, they are a new member of your family. What makes us different is the care that we take in finding the right home, with the right family, for the right animal. In addition…
We know there are a lot of questions people ask about rescue animals, especially when it comes to their health and their background. We gather as much information as possible about our animals before they come to us. In addition, we openly report any and all known behavioral, physical, and health issues so there are no surprises.
Our adoptable animals live in foster homes while with Finding Shelter. This gives us a great deal of information regarding how each individual animal lives and interacts with people and other animals in a home setting. Our fosters are our eyes and ears when it comes to the health and well-being of our animals. It also gives us first-hand knowledge of the best possible forever home living situation for our animals.
We have an in-house, certified professional dog trainer, Kelly Craig of The Distinguished Dog. Not only has Kelly adopted from and fosters for Finding Shelter, but she also provides training for all of our adoptable dogs as well as offers free, lifetime phone consultations for all of our adopters.
RAY OF HOPE
The Ray of Hope Fund is in memory of our own little Ray and his journey into rescue and the peace he found at the end of his life.

Finding the Connection
Finding Shelter Animal Rescue is proud to work with companion animals every day. But while we are able to rescue some species, that does not mean we do not care about all. Each and every human and animal life has value and meaning. As an organization, any event or fundraiser that involves food served to humans and is directly organized or hosted by Finding Shelter Animal Rescue will be vegan. We respect the lives of all animals and wish to make a positive impact by not harming some species to benefit others.
We understand that there are many wonderful people, organizations and corporations who wish to help Finding Shelter Animal Rescue by organizing independent fundraisers to benefit our animals. We cannot require that they make their events vegan, but we do hope that they will consider making them vegan, strongly encourage them to be vegan or at least having vegan options to encourage kindness to all animals.Want to hold a vegan event or fundraiser for Finding Shelter? We are happy to give you ideas and help to make it a compassionate success!
